The two weight bags are supplied empty: allow around 27 to 31 kg of dry sand per bag (a little over 50 kg in total). That ballast is what keeps the parasol stable — one bag of builder's sand is enough and costs a few euros at any DIY store.
Care tip: close the parasol in strong wind or when a storm is forecast, and cover it with the supplied cover out of season. The canopy will keep its colour and its water resistance far longer.
Yes, and that's rare at this size. The steel cross base and the two weight bags are in the box. Most large parasols are sold without a base, with a second purchase of €50 to €70 to budget for — here there's nothing to add to put it up.
The three vents at the top let gusts through instead of turning the canopy into a sail, and they release the hot air that builds up underneath. With the cross base and both sand bags filled, it's stable in normal use. Let's be clear all the same: like any 12.7 m² parasol, it should be closed when strong wind or a storm is forecast — that's common sense, not a question of build quality.
Three LEDs on each of the twelve ribs, spread across the whole surface rather than concentrated in the centre: the light is diffuse and covers the entire table. It's late-evening ambient light, made for carrying on with dinner and conversation — not a work floodlight.
